The Okeeffe and Caroll families were the driving forces behind this land that was to become a popular sporting ground at Kilburn.
Events likes of gymkhana's, parades, cricket, cycling, trotting and other sporting activities including the Kilburn Speedway were organised.
In 1923 Australian Rules Football was played here and in 1928 the Chicago Magpies won their first Premiership.
In 1931 the name was changed to the Kilburn Magpies and in 1951 moved to the current grounds.
